A Simple Problem Solving Process That's Guaranteed to Work The way you look at a difficult situation turns it into either a problem or an opportunity. As Shakespeare penned, "for there is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so."
The first thing that must be done when addressing a trying situation is to write a brief synopsis of what you see as the problem. Immediately after doing this, rewrite what you've just written to summarize what you see as any opportunities in the situation.
